AVANT GARDE

Genre(s): Gothic Metal

Formed in Maceió- Alagoas, 2007.  In April 2007 with the aim of the bands and Loryon Finnisterre, the remaining members (Rafael (drums), Manuel (guitar), Mega (bass) and Ph (keyboard)) kick off in what would be the Avant Garde, with the proposed to do covers of bands symphony / gothic metal, for example, After forever and Epica. The search for more members occurred via networking sites, which ended with the entry of Larissa (vocals) and Rodrigo (guitar). The parties and gatherings, this period had greater relevance than trials, since the purpose was to have fun and strengthen the friendly atmosphere. At the end of 2007 with the departure of Ph, the band begins to write and deal with more serious matters concerning the same. In early 2008 the band is complete with the arrival of keyboardist Lucas (ex-Android Monkey) and vocalist Braga (Black Verses) and makes its debut in September 2008 in the venue Orákulo; good criticism stemming from this show, served motivation for recording the track "Into my scars," which will soon be available on MySpace. Avant Garde follows mounting new repertoire and preparing for the recording of the demo.

AVANTGARD

Avantgard

Genre(s): Power Metal

Formed in São Paulo, São Paulo - 2002. Formed in 2002, Avantgarde tries not to hold the bonds or labels. His music has many influences, among them classic bands like The Beatles, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Savatage, The Who and Queen especially. In all such influences mainly shows the inclination of the operating band for the rock. In his songs we find a significant amount of drama, combined with always an important concern for the entertainment. The demo EP The Sound Of Reason was produced by Felipe Andreoli, bassist of the band Angra, and with the participation of musicians as Kiko Loureiro (Angra), Mauro Chevis (Firesign) and Philip's own. The recordings were made in the years 2003 and 2004, the Gasoline Studios. We recorded the songs The Sound Of Reason, Losing My Wings, The One, Chains Of Faith and Induced Sleep. With the demo The Sound Of Reason, the Avantgarde got an excellent effect. In July 2005 the band appeared as a highlight of the "Assault Demo" magazine Rock Brigade (with the right to interview) and was also highly praised in the "Garage Demos" Roadie Crew magazine, with particular emphasis on two publications for the performance Vocalist Andre Sauer, and emphasized the commercial potential of the band. Besides these great reviews, the band was also praised in independent sites and in the magazine and then guitarist John Valhalla Milliet figured in an interview in Guitar Player magazine. The Avantgarde is not afraid to dare for the quality, and in the middle of 2005 joins the band vocalist Marina Latorraca (Synnoveriem). With his vocals extremely powerful and versatile, it fits like a glove in the band's sound, emphasizing further the musical influences of the Avantgarde own and doing very interesting vocal duets with Andre Sauer. This acquisition is innovative, since the public has more contact with duets as they are made in Nightwish and many other bands, where there is a man with a guttural voice and a woman singing in a lyrical style. Most songs are split between the Avantgarde vocals of Marina and Andre, and in some they sing alone, as is the case of The Sound Of Reason and Forever In Vain. In late 2005 guitarist John Milliet left the band for personal reasons. The current lineup features the Avantgarde Andre Sauer (vocals, keyboards), La Marina Torraca (vocals), Luiz Portinari (guitar and backing vocals), Renato Suguiyama (guitar and backing vocals) and Renato Canciani (bass).

AVALON

Genre(s): Thrash / Power Metal (early) / Modern / Industrial (later)

Formed in Teresina, Piauí - 1982. This was a good band from the province Piaui in the poor Northeast. It was founded by the singer Ica Almendra from the obscure band Venus, which released in 1986 the rarest Metal record in Brazil. They recorded 3 demos, before the split LP. The style on it is simple, but good Thrash with critical lyrics. The second record, contains less Thrash elements, and the third, with half of the band members replaced is more in the Power Metal direction, with a few modern influences. They recorded also in 1996 a song for the "Tribute to Dorsal" CD (as the only normal band). But after that they finally split up, and one of the members moved to the US. The other band on the split LP, Megahertz were from the same province, and made really good Thrash.

AUSTHRAL

Genre(s): Folk / Black Metal

Formed in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina - 2000. Started in 1999 as a joke band called Kriegerstein. Some years later the band became more serious and the name was changed to Sepher. Around 2004 folk influences were incorporated to their sound and the name was finally changed to Austhral. The Austhral Florianopolis is a band that calls itself one of the only representatives of an authentic national folk metal. With influences from traditional rhythms Southerners like gaucho music, baroque music and tango, the Austhral tells stories of his land by means of conceptual metal. In its formation has always had gauchos, Santa Catarina and Parana who have close links with the region's culture. The sound of his compositions have been compared with bands like Finntroll, Thyrfing, Old Man's Child, among others. But musicians ensure that they are not direct influences of his work. "They were the inspiration at the beginning to the creation of the band," says Cristian Derosa, guitarist. "If the people of Scandinavia has the right to be proud of what they are, why, then, we do not we?" She asks. But the differences between them and the Nordic metal is accurate. The scales remarkably inspired by the tango and flamenco, as well as in Chote or chamamé (styles authentic gauchos), demonstrates the great point of originality of this band from the capital of Santa Catarina. "Many styles available in southern Brazil came with European immigrants and, therefore, invariably resemble bands like Finntrol and that is why it is even difficult to find the right tone of the mixture. We avoid anything that seems too Nordic. We seek to influence only the sound of the South and that's what's the big difference between us and the bands that call themselves Brazilian folk, because what they do is European music, that's all, "says the guitarist. A large sample of this difference and originality is engraved on his first album played the wind, released by Face The Abyss Santa Catarina, in January 2008. It is possible to find many different influences, both of southern music and classical music, because the demand Austhral tell of epic form the numerous wars that marked more than two centuries of history of that region. The idea began when the brothers Marlon Derosa and Cristian decided to create a band with something more than what was being done in the music scene of Santa Catarina. Rehearsals began in 2004 with an initial training of three members - two brothers and bassist Bruno Perot (Gash). After Perot's departure, other musicians participated in the band's compositions during his first 10 songs: the entry of new bass player, Louis Von Muhlen accession also brought in a keyboardist. Only after the entry of Miguel Salles de Moraes, the sound of the guy who won Austhral currently have. This period is practically the definition of the theme of the first work that the band would write and arrange most of the songs. With the departure of Von Muhlen, musicians began looking for a new bassist and a singer to make the project they had in mind. He then joined the band as bassist and vocalist Julian Leonardo Chagas Regis. With this lineup, the band played its first concerts in southern Brazil. During this period, the band released a promo with the songs they had composed, exclusive launch for the second show in the city of St. Joseph metropolitan area of Florianopolis. After a year and a half concert finally started recording his first album. Many setbacks have delayed the recording of this release, including the output of the vocal Juliano Regis, made then by bassist Leonardo Chagas. Produced by the band in partnership with the Santa Catarina Face The Abyss Records, Gilson Lange, the album was the result of persistence and courage of those who believed that you can innovate without falling into cliches of metal or surrender to the waves passing. Released in January 2008 by The Abyss Face, played the Wind is a metal album that tells a part of the history of southern Brazil: the period of the War of Tatters, a war that culminated in the creation of a republic to the south and led large part of southern tradition today.

AURAS

My Photos por

Genre(s): Hard Rock

Formed in Curitiba, Paraná - 2007. Hailing from Brazil, Auras is one of the most exciting new acts to hit the AOR-rock scene in the past few years and with the release of their debut album New Generation they are ready to prove the world that acts such as Journey, The Storm, Toto and Survivor have found a credible heir from South America! Auras was formed in the beginning of 2007 by singer Gui Oliver and guitarist Ferpa Lacerda. Tired of playing in cover bands and feeling they were musically mature enough, both musicians decided to write some new music. The first song coming out of this collaboration Hungry Hearts was sent out to several producers and musicians around the world, gathering some very warm response. Gui and Ferpa therefore kept on writing more material until their songs landed on Frontiers Records desk who some immediately some concrete interest, making Auras the first band from South America to sign with the label. New Generation is the result of years of hard work and faith in our music, explains Gui Oliver. It sounds corny, but it's really a dream that came true especially for a Brazilian band where this kind of music is not very popular. We really have to thank Frontiers for their trust and support. Being a real band, not just a studio project, Auras had their live debut supporting their idols Jeff Scott Soto and Jimi Jamison in Curitiba, Auras hometown. Hearing the band play, Jamison mentioned that Auras songs took him back to the eighties and reminded him of the great bands of that period. Artists like Toto, Journey and Survivor, tells Gui, are known worldwide and in Brazil it's not different: their classic hits are still on the radio. Their music touched me in different ways. It was not only the beautiful and amazing melodies, but their songs also had great lyrics. Ferpa also grew up in a very musical family and this kind of music was always part of his life. Definitely melodic rock and AOR in Brazil is not for the masses but we have a faithful and loyal audience. We received lots of emails of people saying how proud they were of us about the album. Love, dreams, faith and hope are what Auras music is all about.
