Formed in Belo Horizonte - BH, 2006. The band Cartoon was formed in 1995 in Belo Horizonte-MG, and it is today one of the greatest exponents of Brazilian rock. Its sound is a perfect combination between rock, classical and Brazilian music. joining exotic instruments ( esraj, sitar, tabla and bells )to the traditional bass, guitar, drums and keyboards the group has created its own style and its music has pleased its different ages audience in concerts which are a real voyage to the world of music. The powerful and brightness vocals are rarely seen in Brazilian groups and they are the band's brand label. .... ...... The musicians have erudite and popular back ground and a large experience in group and individual works. Besides playing his own instruments, everyone plays some others as well which shows the richness and diversity of sounds and tones that calls the audience attention in the concerts..... It is during the concerts that Cartoon shows its real potential. In the repertory, besides their own music they always bring some surprises as "Bachthoven's Theme" (arrangements of the group to some passages of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Jesu Joy of Men's Desiring – J.S.Bach) and faithful interpretations of the classics of rock. .... The musician's affinity transform each concert in a mystic and magic trip where their techniques join to their sensibility, good humor and to the impromptu, creating this unique chemistry known as Cartoon. .... After four years on the road, making innumerous concerts and creating new songs, Cartoon releases its first CD titled "MARTELO", receiving innumerous complements from the critics and from the audience, not just because of the eleven songs that confirm the quality and the creativity proposed by the band, but also for the beauty and originality of the covers enclosure. The CD was released in Belo Horizonte in November 1999. In only three months the first 1,500 copies were sold out and in 2002 they had already sold more than 3,000 copies. .... In April 2001 the Rock News magazine (a magazine which specializes in rock) chose Cartoon to star the first edition of the magazine poster. This Kind of magazine very successful in the 70's and 80's, that has already shown the greatest names of the world rock as Queen, Beatles, Genesis, etc. tells us the complete history of the band and it also has a giant poster of Cartoon. An unprecedented fact for an independent band. .... In the middle 2001, the guitar player, Vlad gets out of the band, so with this Cartoon gives a break in the process of rehersal for the next work. At the end of December of the same year a new guitar player joins the band, the unknown but virtuous, Khykho. .... In 2002 Cartoon astonishes the audience releasing the First Brazilian Rock Opera "BIGORNA" crowding the great Theater of "Palácio das Artes" in Belo Horizonte-MG on November 17th with 1,700 spectators. ...... .. .. .. .. .. ...... In this CD Cartoon's proposal was to develop a work based in the free and good humored interpretation of the legend of King Arthur and the knigths of the round table, becoming the 1st Brazilian band to produce this genre of musical art. In this story, the legendary sword EXCALIBUR is truly a HAMMER – ( in Portuguese "MARTELO") the one which titles the 1st CD - that shows the comic side of this new legend version. Although, behind the irreverence of this work, as well as in the previous one, there is a strong spiritual message destined to the whole audience of the band, no matter your age, beliefs or religion. .... In parallel with the CD production, was created, to follow the CD, a comic striped magazine. This issue, that functions as a rock opera program, the characters and environments are showed as draws and the songs letters are the basis for their texts. .... Now, Cartoon has just released their third album: ..Estribo.. .... With quality Rock n' Roll Cartoon raises the question: "What do you do when all you believe you were born to do and that you love the most has been taken off of you?!!" Join us into this deafening adventure.
