In 2000, childhood friends Leonard (guitar) and Philip (bass) s won their first instruments and had the idea to start a metal band with influences from Iron Maiden and Helloween. The two then began looking for other musicians to complete the band was when in July, through a friend found Vinicius, they already knew but had not seen for some time. They began writing songs and decided to use Alzheimer's name at the suggestion of Paul Holland (Uncle Philip and webmaster of this site. In late 2002, Peter, an old school friend who played drums and had some experience with bands was invited to join the band. Shortly after Philip met guitarist Henry the Internet and then started testing. In June 2003 the Alzheimer played their first gig at a festival in Anglo college. In September the singer Vinicius decided to leave the band stood for a while until in December the band got a vocalist, Larissa to replace it. In January there was another show in which Vinicius participated as Larissa, then the singer could not participate.
