Formed in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte - 2001.  In late 2001 Felipe Santiago (guitar/vocals) left the band Pillars of Eternity, along with two other members, Daniel Lacerda (keyboards) and Emille Dantas (vocals) to form a Doom Metal band, so, Ártemis was born. After some changes in its line-up, the band established with: Felipe Santiago (guitar/vocals), Daniel Lacerda (keyboards), Alexandre Gouveia (bass), Hel (vocals), Marcelo Herculano (drums) and Gustavo Barreto (guitar); releasing their first demo in 2003, "The Dance of the Morbid Nature”. In 2004, Ártemis passed through a big change in its line-up, therefore in their sound. In 2005, the band entered the studio to record their second demo, with: Felipe Santiago (vocals), Gustavo Barreto (bass), David Cantídio (guitar), Thiago Marinho (guitar) and Ruphius Germano (drums). But the recordings were not finished and the material could not be released. In late 2009 Felipe Santiago retrieved band’s activities, as a project with a new name, APTEMIS, composing new songs and pre-producing them. In 2011, APTEMIS will release their second demo and also record their first CD.
