Genre(s): Progressive Metal / Instrumental
Formed in Salvador, Bahia - 2001. The Asteroidea is an instrumental band that
formed in January 2001 by Patrick Amorim. Took his first training Eric Andrade
and Marcelo Bahia both former members of the band Pandora, bassist and drummer
respectively, and Marcelo Martins, the band's Plexus. The band's name was
Eric's suggestion, and is the name of a class of starfish, which originated
from Latin. The repertoire of the first tests were only listening to Joe
Satriani, Steve Vai and Malmsteen is that with this formation occurred only two
trials. Marcelo Bahia definitely lost interest with your instrument and Marcelo
Martins had to devote more time to his band. In late March, John Patrick asks
Matthew, a former drummer for the Mystic to take the battery. The same week,
Eric decided to leave the band to devote himself only to studies. Jose Santana
is called in to replace Eric. Patrick now comes in contact with his friend
Leonardo Saback and this takes the other guitar in the band. In mid-April, the
band started rehearsing and on days 2 and 4 August the band performs at school
and Integral Idearium Bar respectively. The Asteroidea decides to terminate the
tests to enter a process of composition. Patrick becomes the next six months
writing songs, and then in February 2002 to resume the tests. For those who
know the work of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Malmsteen's to get an idea of how
to be Asteroidea. Now with his own compositions, the band is turning to an
Instrumental Progressive Metal.
