BLADE

The Blade

Genre(s): Hard Rock / Rock´n´Soul

Formed in São Paulo - SP, 1990. São Paulo, October 1990. Zylberman Daniel (vocals and guitar), John Robert "Mollusk" Balan (bass) and Eduardo Almeida (drums) begin rehearsing classic rock'n'roll and soul music, as well as some songs authored by Zylberman. The first original repertoire were not no game, Cut the line and Found. Among the first covers were Respect, Otis Redding, gimme some lovin ', Steve Winwood, and Rebel Rebel by David Bowie. The band's name, The Blade, has emerged in these early trials, also suggested by Zylberman. The idea from the beginning was that the repertoire of both himself as the covers, would privilege a mixture footprint of rock'n'roll classic 60's and 70's, with soul music from the same era, with special emphasis on melodies striking and well worked and a danceable groove. That is, create a sound with its own personality from the lessons of masters like The Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, The Band, Elvis Presley, Bo Diddley, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel , Bryan Ferry, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed, among others. Then Mario Casilo assumes keyboards, and Márcio Okayama guitar solo, thus completing the first incarnation of the band. Okayama, despite great musician, and like the repertoire, not adapted fully to the arrangements. Why prefer, then, guitars with more weight in the line of heavy metal, the band decided to leave after a few weeks of rehearsal. On May 91, Valdir "Adi" Sangerotti ranks as the lead guitarist, and it would remain, with some back and forth, up to 96. Besides the musicality prime marks the banda at humor. His are some of the crude nicknames given to musicians who would forever ("Shell", for example). At night especially alcoholic Sangerotti excelled, giving himself the nickname by which it would be forever known in the banda, "Valdsley" (later, "Valds"). With this formation, The Blade made his first gigs in bars and at parties universities. During this period, he also recorded his first demo, with bands The circus of misery, I'm leaving you, Hungry, Through our fire, Found, and I'm so alone. Other songs from this era that did not get to be recorded include Aliens and For the sad-eyed lady, beyond Zylberman partnerships with friend and songwriter Marco Antonio Gonçalves, Invitations and Spoils. The drummer Marcelo Vargas replaces Eduardo Almeida at the end of 91. On its face, gets (Valds of course) the nickname "Anthrax", a reference to his favorite hat and heavy style of playing. At 92, keyboardist Casilo leaves, and is replaced by Alex Kim. With the departure of Kim, a few months later, The Blade adopt the formation of quartet, which would record their second demo, with bands We will not sleep tonight and again Hungry, with guest Fábio "The Mule" on bass. Here performing in bars and universities, as well as nightclubs and theaters. At the end of 93, Rogério Sardella takes the sticks in place of Anthrax, bringing banda invaluable contribution in the form of precision, style and skill. This formation appears on the band's first music video, Hungry. Between 93 and 94, Valds Sangerotti leaves the banda. In the brief period he was away, two guitarists, Alceu Medeiros and Alexandre dos Santos, took their place, only time there were three guitarists in the band at the same time. This training has not been further restricted to only a few trials. With Sangerotti back, this time as a freelancer, the group continued performing and preparing arrangements for the recording of their first CD, Rage, which started in the second half of 96. Before the recordings, it is time to leave Shell to engage in more studies, work and family. For the vacancy, Zylberman invites Alberto Kupper, known from other bands. Kupper, funk and disco influences, contributed decisively in the arrangements under the CD, especially in Through our fire, I'll follow you and I'm so alone. Even before entering the studio, Sangerotti also decides not burn the CD. Eduardo Guedes, with virtuoso jazz background and Zylberman cousin who was already invited to make a guest appearance on CD, assumes the post in the final, and break, saves the recording. The band won artistically with his arrival, and in particular the CD, which has guitar work in one of its high points. Also attending the CD guests Johnny Boy (keyboards), Nando Ramos (guitar) and Willy (percussion). The CD was ready in mid-97, and received numerous accolades in magazines. Soon after recording the CD, Kupper leaves the band, and in its place comes Fábio "The Mule," longtime friend and collaborator, as a freelancer. At this stage there is little activity, given the difficulty of counting with guitarist Guedes, who lives in Rio de Janeiro. In late 2000, Rodrigo "Digão" Pedrosa friend Zylberman, takes down brilliantly. Digão, originally a guitarist, had left his guitar to devote to bass in rock bands, and came up for the absence of a permanent bass player. In 2005, when the band itself Guedes and concluded that the distance precluded the job, and after a few unsuccessful trials with guitarists, Digão again was the solution to the problem, switching from bass to guitar. For the low, is reinstated to the banda co-founder shellfish. In October this year, the new lineup is announced in concert 15th anniversary of the band and that marks the farewell of Eduardo Guedes. In 2007, of personal tribulations forced output Sardella, replaced by Eduardo "Duda" Gomes for a few months and some shows. In the second half of 2008, after the appearance of musical differences that resulted in the departure of Duda, Sardella planned return to the banda. Unfortunately, a herniated disc prevented his return. In May 2009, a new drummer, "Xuxa" friend Digão work of MPB, was integrated. Xuxa's debut with the band at a gig happened in July. Currently, The Blade prepares new composition of material available for this site and perform live.
