CENTÚRIAS

Means: CENTURIES

Genre(s): Heavy Metal

Formed in São Paulo - SP, 1980. In São Paulo a few festivals organized by true selfless became famous for revealing several bands to the scene of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, among them "Rock the Plaza", which during the 80s happened on Sunday afternoons in the park Aclimação. Already at the age of 12 I did everything to be always with the blue newsletter to have permission from my parents to watch the shows, plus get an extra to buy new or used LPs in Cheap trades. But a special date will be marked in my memory: the day that saw the Centuries on the Square Rock. I was standing there, alone, with that old denim jacket full of patches and buttons Vulture watching the show and waiting for Centuries. When the band took the stage, was indescribable, it seemed like I was seeing Judas Priest! After that, I started studying more closely in order to check the growing national scene, which had great bands like the seniors Made In Brazil, the Space Patrol and the new generation as Harppia, Virus, Vulture, Wages, Cerberus, The Key Sun Ave Velvet, Ethan, Trash Luxury, Gozometal, Sanctuary, Nostradamus, Anacrusa, Mammoth, Light Year, Antithesis, Korzus and, of course, the big Centuries. Another great moment was check closely the festival "Metal 4", with bands Centuries, Wages, Vulture and The Key of the Sun, held in the Gymnasium Society Sports Palmeiras in Sao Paulo. Loosely speaking, the kind of event was like the "Monster Of Rock".
The Centuries achieved the feat of being present in one of the first phonograph records on the national scene, the compilation "Metal SP", released by Cheap trades. After that, with the status of big band for the standards of the time, had earned an LP. Luiz Calanca of Cheap Kindred, who was the creator of the famous collection, wasted no time and gave a chance for Paulo Thomaz (drums), Eduardo Camargo (vocals), Adriano Giudice (guitar) and Rubens Guarnieri (bass) line-up in 1985. The quartet went into the studio in October 1985, and even with all the difficulties encountered with poor equipment that had managed to record one of the best hard rock albums sung in Portuguese, LP "Last Night" and also " Do not Think Do not Tell ", better composition of the band's next to" Ports Negras ". Later, for musical differences, the Centuries changed their members, leaving only the drummer breaker Filho's original line-up. Entered the former Sanctuary Caesar "Big Dog" Zanelli (vocals), and former Harppia Ravache Ricardo (bass) and Marcos Patriota (guitar). With this lineup the band undertook another study anthology, LP "Ninja", which contained the tracks "Lords of Reason" and "Heavy Eyes", which became a success in the shows. And who does not remember that show called "No Posers," Space Mambembe occurred in 1987. Fortunately, this time I was a friend of Paul Thomaz, today a brother. Filho has always believed in the potential of the band, but times were different, Trash Metal dominated almost all bands sang in English and one in particular appeared at that time Sepultura. The Hundreds unfortunately ceased production but with the relaunch of LPs on CD "Last Night" and "Ninja" you can feel in every note, base, ground footprint and drummer Edu or phrase sung by Almeida, as was done Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. A simple thing, pure and almost innocent by today's standards. But someone disagrees with that determination, passion, feeling and strength of will always speak louder?
