BRASIL PAPAYA

Genre(s): Hard Rock

Formed in Laguna - SC, 1993. The idea of the brothers Renato and Eduardo Pimentel to bring down the stigma that instrumental music was always as something elitist, geared just for lovers or eccentric musicians, started to become reality in January 1993. In the historic city of Laguna, Santa Catarina, five tracks they recorded a demo tape, a time when Brazil was still a dream Papaya duo of guitarists. In February of the following year, finally happens the first live presentation, including Bruno Ghizoni Fernando Braga on drums and bass. And early in the career, Papaya Brazil now living in Florianópolis begins its tradition of breaking down barriers. For the first time in Santa Catarina, an instrumental group wins a stage of a festival groups cover, coming in second place among 25 competitors. The fame of the quartet, who dared to merge the orthodox and radical heavy metal with other popular styles such as choro, always sounding rock and roll and without sounding corny or cocky, left the underground Santa Catarina and drew attention of musicians and musical instrument companies located in the major centers of the country. Each new show, and most public ever increasing number of admirers. Fernando leaves, opening vacancy for Adriano "Berry" Rotini, a time when boldness became increasingly watchword. It was time the final step and, in July 1996, the group spends 40 days in São Paulo, the Creative Sound studio, where the dream first album is produced. Following the traditions of rock idols, the quartet uses only the name of the band to work. In November 1996, even without having a record out, Brazil Papaya recorded his first music video for the track "The Heart Ends ... The Dream Begins" Another barrier falls in April 1997, when Brazil makes Papaya " Killing the Innocence "your second clip. The news then was the fact that this is the first shot in the state film (16mm and 35mm). In the same year, the national press reflected the quality of the album. In October 1999 the band recorded "Kichute" track from a compilation sponsored by the Art and Cultural Department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). It is the first time with the current lineup, now including Paulista Alex on drums. The shows are happening and, beyond the experience of the stage, members of Brazil Papaya specialize in other sectors. Renato Rides The Magic Place studio and start producing artists of different styles. The Papaya Brazil completes the first decade in early 2003, when the tests start for a new repertoire. Without haste, the compositions are emerging now with the wide participation of the four members. The idea is to strengthen the status of a group of musicians, moving away from the image of a project aimed to highlight two guitarists. Eight tracks are created in them and follows the tradition of placing side by side rock, blues, heavy metal and crying. The flamenco, jazz and funk are also added in discrete doses, all seasoned with much feeling and simplicity. Even the tango of Astor Piazzolla gaining ground in an unusual version with harmonica-point, double bass and drums of distorted guitars coexisting peacefully and harmoniously. Features that the spirit of rock and roll, birthplace and inspiration of Brazil Papaya offers the world for decades. In 2011 the band celebrates 18 years of putting the road "Foot on board" with the Emancipation Tour 2011 which is part of Circuit SESC Music SC, passing through 21 cities in Santa Catarina.
