BROTHERS OF BRAZIL

Genre(s): Alternative / Hard Rock / Pop / Punk

Formed in São Paulo - SP, 2007. It’s probably safe to say that you’ve never heard anything like Brothers Of Brazil before. The two piece band, actual brothers, were bestowed the name ‘Brothers Of Brazil’ by former manager of The Clash, Bernard Rhodes when they first toured the UK. For the past three years the brotherly duo consisting of Supla and Joao have been making some of the most original songs around by combining elements of traditional Brazilian music such as Bossa nova and samba with rock, punk and funk to create a unique sound that’s won over countless fans in the band’s home base of South America—In the past year alone The Brothers have toured relentlessly to support the worldwide release of their self-titled album in 2011. From UK where they played with Hugh Cornwall of THE STRANGLERS, which led to a session at the BBC, The band was requested to play The legendary Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA and then asked to join The Vans Warped tour where they won over thousands of fans in every city across the USA. Back in Brazil The Brothers appeared live in The Rolling Stone studio and were featured in an issue of Rolling Stone. MIX TV sent the band back to the US where they filmed their escapades touring America once again for their reality show ‘Brothers Abroad’, all of this in one year! Now in 2012 The Brothers Of Brazil are once again out to conquer the music world with the release of their new 6 song EP “ON MY WAY” They were personally requested to share the stage as the opening act for FLOGGING MOLLY’s recent North American tour and once again won over countless new fans across the U.S. While stopping off in NYC to play 2 sold out nights at The Bowery Electric where ‘fans’ of the band, including Blondie’s Debbie Harry showed up to witness the Brothers eclectic, energetic live performances. Among the diverse tracks on this EP, ON MY WAY, a more pop sounding, beatle-esque song is striking a chord with fans and critics alike. Another track, VIVA LIBERTY’ Supla cites as a “very important song that we wrote about being who you were meant to be and respecting other people in all societies rights to be who they want to be! I was invited to see my friend Bob Gruen, (legendary photographer), at his place in the Village in NYC,and I saw his famous poster of John Lennon in front of the statue of liberty giving the peace sign and that was it…It struck me…Viva Liberty! That says it all!”. Presently The Band are back in Brazil planning their next tour, supporting the new release of ON MY WAY and Supla is in the midst of serving as a judge on the Brazilian IDOLS, TV show, (The ‘Steven Tyler’ of American Idols, equivalent ).
After this great tour with Adam Ant, the Brothers will be performing with Flogging Molly in Brazil(November)…Check the Dates.
