AGRESSOR

Genre(s): Thrash Metal

Formed in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro - 1982. The early '80s marked the worldwide metal scene, the emergence of bands like Slayer, Metallica, Venom, Exodus and others that created a huge legion of fans, where their music consequently serve to influence other bands that came up. In Brazil, one of those bands was the aggressor, formed in 1982 in Macaé, a city in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Frederick (vocals), Alley and Marcus Aurelius (guitars), Jeddah (bass) and Paul (drums), the band recorded their first demo called Metal Destruction, launched in 1986. The demo of four songs, with lyrics in Portuguese brought the vocal and instrumental hardcore thrash metal along the line. The theme of the letters was a negative world view, as noted in the Third World War, Twentieth Century and the Last Judgement. Changes occurred in the formation and also the sound. Leaving Frederick and Marcus Aurelius, Ivan enters the place from Jeddah and Paul also takes the vocals, making the band a trio. The letters are now in English, the vocal part becomes heavy and continued directing instrumental thrash. The letters continue to criticize the acidic and environmental disasters, drug use and the performance of a great number of politicians. This result is seen in the second demo, called Kill Or Die, released in 1988. Because of several differences that are common to many bands, they decide to close down around 1991. On some occasions there were failed attempts at a return. Kill Or Die The demo has been released on vinyl in late 2001, through the newly formed label called Dies Irae and the demo came out with the Attacker Irae dialing 001. Technical resources were not used today or insertion of any further instrument, even on a refinishing, keeping faithfully recording the time. If on one hand the members were in doubt about the launching, since the quality of this recording, on the other hand, was a boost to that after a period of 11 years of inactivity, the band returned in 2002 with the same lineup that recorded Kill Or Die: Alley (Guitar), Ivan (bass) and Paul (drums / vocals). The years 2002 and 2003 that the band used to solve structural problems (equipment, testing site) at the same time, new songs were being made. In the first half of 2004 Ivan left the band and instead enters Diego Neves. A second guitarist is recruited to give greater consistency to the sound of the band and Diego Massilia assume that post. The focus from now on is the preparation (pre-production) of what will be the first CD. Are written in this way two songs from the new phase: Manipulation of Masses and Puppets of Society, and both received positive reviews from bangers. They were released on site in two months and had 3400 downloads. In early 2005 Daflon Claudius enters the seat vacated by bassist Diego and Alexandre Neves Paulista enters the vacant guitarist Diego Massilia. With this line rewrites drug addiction, music that was part of the demo Kill Or Die and suffered new arrangements. With the closed repertoire, attention turns to the band recording the album which starts in September and the studio was chosen to Cape DQG Frio.RJ. End recording / mixing and mastering in January 2006. The independent was officially launched in April 2006 and was called Victim Of Yourself. The concept of the name is based on human relationship in the world, where many are suffering because of wars, hunger, intolerance, cowardice and drugs. Is man a victim of the human race itself. The album features 10 songs which are: drug addiction, Old Man, P-36, Where is Courage?, Sacred Words, Manipulation of Masses, Eyes to the World, Mercenary Politician, Dr. Death and Puppets of Society. The artwork of the booklet was created by Paul and has 16 colorful pages, cover varnished, with lyrics in English and in Portuguese. Each page has a different gear in accordance with each letter. The band sought partnerships with zines / webzines and a few companies that had their logos on the CD sleeve as cultural support in exchange for advertisement space for those media in a symbiosis where the underground once again showed his face. The CD was sent to zines, webzines, radio stations and magazines in Brazil and abroad, received mostly rave reviews about the work of the Aggressor. The band entered the playlists of many radio stations in Brazil and worldwide. The band continued to show his work at some concerts played as a trio, since Alley decides to leave the group. In some concerts André Vieira played the second guitar as a guest musician. And in homage to Kill or Die, who turned 20 in 2008, playing the entire demo in a show and include in the playlist Lullaby, and Spirit of Death. In 2010 new lineup changes happen. Claudio leaves the band and enter John Vargas (guitar) and Gustavo (bass). With this lineup the band has continued working on material for the new CD with estimates for the first half of 2011.
