Formed in Araguari, Minas Gerais - 2003. The band Asylum gave beginning to its
activities in January of 2003 in the city of Araguari - MG, being formed by
remaining members of a traditional local band of the early 90..s called Fear of
Death. Since the principle, the Asylum members opted to write their own songs,
develping a style based on the traditional metal and Hard-Rock of the 80´s,
emerged in a dense and loaded atmosphere proceeding from the Doom-Metal of the
90..s Exactly having the above-mentioned styles as foundation, Asylum if does
not only restrict to copy the classical metal bands, but it has the objective
to develop a proper language and atmospheres to sound defferently of the other
bands. Lirycly Asylum approaches subjects related to the obscure side of the
human soul, however, never discoursing in a generalized manner regarding the
inherent badness to the beings, exactly that these boardings are made of a
dreamfull and not literal perspective, leaving that the feeling of the letters
is different for each listener. Asylum is formed by Mike Lourener on the
guitars and lead vocals, Dhiego Cantieri on the guitar and backing vocals,
Landas on the bass guitar and Guilherme Maywald on the drums; is always good to
say that all tje line-up have a huge knowledge in terms of metal scene, which
provides a work, at least muture and different from those bands that are always
seraching fot the “new wave” and not really interested on the music itself. The
first EP, intitled The Birth (released in 2003) shows well this Doom atmosphere
created for the set, and, even with a medium production, gives a good idea of
the soundthat the band intends to develop. Currently Asylum meets pledged in
the composition of its first full lenght, prioritizing the elaboration of
subjects more technician and shady, added to the elements more purely
heavy-metal, however with a more modern and current production.
