ATLANTIDA ATLANTIS

Formed in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro - 1994. Due to copyright laws the band has changed their name from Atlantis to Atlantida. The Brazilian band Atlantida released its first album called "Painted Reality" by Full Sound Records on July 13th. After releasing the EP "New Frontiers" back in 2000, which was very well received by the national and international magazines, the band has proved that it still yields a higher quality progressive sound. Luiz Siren (vocals), Alex Macedo (guitars), Mike Lerner (guitars and violin), Roberto Schillling (keyboards), Andrej Braga (bass) and Felipe Calani (drums) present ten songs in this first album that denotes both their musical diversity and quality in every song.  Produced by Atlantida, “Painted Reality” is the result of ten years of hard work. The album also introduces special guests like Kiko Loureiro (Angra) and Renato Tribuzy (Execution) in the song “Two Minds”. “Painted Reality” has a pleasant sonority, without exaggeration, and has been produced differently from current metal recording. The first track is “Burn the Bridge”. Its strong and heavy characteristics evidence the Atlantida's identity in the arranges, two guitars synchronism, bass and keyboards uncommon lines and a heavy beat of drums. The vocal is melodic and aggressive in a slightly way, just like in the other songs “I lost You”, “Following the Sun”, “Real Dream”, and the well acclaimed “Snowrider”, “Living in a Bottle”, “Find your Identity” and “New Frontiers”. The CD song-title “Painted Reality” is instrumental and very alternative, displaying a variety of styles, such as classical, jazz, new age, progressive and flamenco. The highlights are the special performance of Renata Provout (castanets and flamenco tap dance) and Mike Lerner’s violin solos. The song evokes the idea that, besides the “painted reality” we all live in, it’s also possible to paint your own and change your way around, not following all social patterns. All songs were composed by Atlantida in an atmosphere portraying the proposal of the Brazilian sextet: the mix of several individual influences resulting in an unique musical style.
